Quilt {stage 3}

Now that I have pieced all the pieces together, I have been able to cut them!
The crucial part here is to keep them all in order in the sequence of the degrading colours that were done. This is what will hopefully give me a nice final pattern. I am happy with the way its going, but I am worried that it wont be big enough to cover the bed in the Bus. I still have some strips of fabric ready to sew, but I am waiting to see how I go with this first!
Next Thursday, its going to start taking shape! How exiting!!!!

Tuesday Tullula

We have been busy cleaning out the garage!
Ok, I will be honest, I started doing it during the week, a little bit now and again. But reality is that I just made a great huge MESS!!!
I had Stephen's tool's all over, swept the floor and left piles...I also was in a "get rid" mood...
So yesterday afternoon Stephen came down with me, and together we sorted it out!
As we were busy Tullula found her own little occupation, hiding behind boxes (he had a big hide and seek session in the morning), peeing in the bushes and collecting leaves that she was leaving in our pockets as well as her top!!!! So that was part of our Sunday!

Cooking: When the Cupborads are Bare!

When the Cupboards are bare

We always keep instant noodles in our cupboards for when the fridge is getting empty and the cupboards are bare...They really also an easy meal to cook for when we are not feeling like cooking!
We used to resort to then on a weekly basis, that's when the wallet was low!

Now we all know how to cook instant noodles.
But this is what I suggest you try adding to them to builk them up and make it a bit more of a meal:

-Curry powder for taste (cheap noodles have so little flavour I find)
-half a can of chick pea's.
-Some sliced carrot.
-Snow pea's.

well come to think of it, anything you like and have left over will work!!!

Sprinkle some Coriander and you have a yourself a cheap, easy meal for those needed times!!!

  •  What do you add in your noodles?

Quilt {stage 2}

So I have now started to piece my quilt together.
After realise that I had cut all the strips 5inches wide and not 5cm like I was supposed too as well as really needing two more colours in the whole combination. For colours blending as well as extra length the the whole!
Really I am still unsure that I have it right, but I am trying!!!!
I now have 12 blocks of each 10 strips of coulours sewn together, I have started each one with the next colours in the sequence, thats what the book I got from the Library says I have to do to get the pattern I want! Next I shall have to iron and cut strips of 5cm again!!!
Cant wait for next Thursday Craft Night!!!

On your Potty!

I had been told that children in cloth nappies were cleaner sooner!
It somehow made sense to me, after all cloth nappies are really uncomfortable (not that I remember) and the poor child must often feel wet/damp!
We also realised how true the fact might be when we discovered in the shopping aisle of the super market, nappies that were made for potty training, that had a "WET" feel!!!
Disposables have become so good at absorbing, that children are no longer able to feel wet, thus the discomfort and want to get out of them and into undies!

Yet I am sad to say that cloth nappies have not been as effective as I had thought or hoped!
And at 2 and 7months Tullula is only just about to get out of Nappies!!!!

Since she has been 2 I have been trying to get her to go on the loo!
I have sat her on many occasions, hoping the click would happen! I am embarrassed to say that I have left puddles of wee behind me in various places, including super markets!
I have carried towels and the potty where ever I have gone!
In vain...Tullula just was not ready!
So I stopped pushing, happy that at least she was willing to sit there once in a while and doing her big business on the loo!
No more dirty nappies was a start!

But these past two weekends, we have had major progress...Well this weekend especially!
Out of nappies all day, and she is even telling us when she needs to wee and we get to the potty on time!
After nap time nappies are dry, and I have big hopes that this is it!

No more nappies for us, at least during the day maybe?
These changes are very very exiting, a huge step in our lives development, but also sad; no not sad not to have to wash any nappies any more, but just that my little baby is growing up and no longer is a baby!

Wake up Call.

Wake up call!
"MOM COME HERE NOW"...
Nice way to be woken up....(not really I must say)
but then when I heard Tullula say "Papa come here" I rubbed his arm and was delighted that for once Tullula was going to let him get her out of her cot!
Yes, we still have Tullula sleeping in a cot...Its convenient, and she does not seem to mind, so for now we have decided not to change what's working!!

Once Stephen got to her, as always she refused to have him get her out, asking for "MOMY"...
So he came back to bed, and the calling for me started once more!
I thought that maybe it was time for an experiment, and said: "En Français Tullula" (In French Tullula)...
Basically asking her to say it in French!
Well we got silence....

She then says it again "Mom come here"...
I repeat my quest for her to talk to me in French, and once more there is a silence!
She must understand what I want, but I guess she does not know how to say it...

So once again she asks for me to come get here, and I say, "Viens Ici Tullula" (Come here Tullula). Will she now use the words I have given her???

No, but she did understand what they meant as she then tried to crawl out her bed (probably for the first and last time) as we heard a crash and cry!!!
Found her still in her bed, but with a little blood in her mouth! Poor thing, she tried to get out and somehow bit her lip or tongue, we are still unsure!!!

I shall be more careful what I say.

But the experiment has worked, she knows that it means to talk in French or English!
I think?
