African Handbags!

I am so exited to finally have finished making these bags!
After I was just about to be done I realised that they would be even super duper better with an adjustable strap...So some shopping around...an order placed, and the adjusters finally arrived a couple of days ago...Eagerly I finished sewing them!
In time for the next Market I will be at this coming Sunday
Lucky me...And How lovely they are!
I love them all...How many hand bags can a girl have after all???
Never too many would be my answer.

So They come in 5 different colours and the insides are a one tone cotton lining, and the lining is different every time, some yellow, red, blue or green...All to mix and match the outsides of course!

They close with a magnetic snap button and have an adjustable strap!
I think they really should mark the re-opening of my etsy shop!

D.I.Y { T-shirt Ruffles}

Tullula had this T-shirt that had stained sleeve and with summer on the way
I got out my tools and had an idea!





 I needed to get the sleeve's off.
unpicking it on the inside.







and the outside.
One off, one to go!






As you can see, I ended up using another material; blue clouds!

So I cut out my sleeve template.
and sewed a small hem on the straight edge.




Then I passed a thread for the gathering.
Folded the sleeve in half and put a pin in the middle as a marker as to where the middle is!




I then pinned the middle of the sleeve to the middle (top) of the t-shirt.

Right sides together, working outside in.



I then pinned the two ends of the sleeve to the lower part of the sleeve on the T-shirt. this way my work is anchored into place, and I used RED pins to do so, this way I know what they are!
The gathering only starts 5cm away from the end of the material, so I also added two pins (on either side) just before where the gathering starts, just to hold my work well into place!

Now I can pull on the gathering thread and place (more or less) the ruffle sleeve.
I did so with yellow pins!

And the sewing together starts!
I sew with my pins in place, just make sure the heads are well out of the way!


and the same on the other side and VOILA!

I think I will add this dragonfly Iron On piece to add something extra to the top!

Traveling Dress!

I forgot to "show off"  the little dress I finished a day or so before we left Australia! I had it cut, and waiting to be finished for ages, and I got it done just in time for Tullula to wear as her Travelling dress!

I just LOVE the material!!

I got her to wear a long sleeve shirt for the cold flight under the dress!

Summer Cloth's

I work in stages for some things and that's what I do with sewing!

I got a whole lot of things cut, and when I get a chance I pull out the sewing machine and get sewing.

I have started making Tullula's Summer Collection, and here are the first pieces.

Bright Yellow shorts with lace trimming and  natural Owl top with green frills!

TuesDay Tullula

I have made those shorts, and I got her dressed and on the balcony I said, come on show me your shorts (after a few atemps to take some photo's that is), and finally she did, pose for me!!!
Too cute.

Make Me

I am terrible!

Always think I can make everything, and I start so many things, that I have piles waiting to be finished!

I want to try to make and do all sorts of things, that I get lost as to what is actually the most important!

Then there is my ecological side, aware that every little bit that every one of us can make is how we can help the planet, there is no point is saying that we are too little and that there is nothing we can do, cause there is!!!

So, I have decided that I use too much cotton...Well I'm talking about cotton pads, as we use them to wipe Tullula's little bum, with an Olive Oil base cream...

So I have made some Cotton make up remover pads (as they are called) in soft Flannelette...

Here is how I went:

*I started by tracing all my circles on

the material using a cotton pad as example;

 

* then I cut them all out;

* the sewing started (and yes I did sew a few projects)

* and there I was all done a pile of  

   reclyable cotton pads! How cool is that???
