On your Potty!

I had been told that children in cloth nappies were cleaner sooner!
It somehow made sense to me, after all cloth nappies are really uncomfortable (not that I remember) and the poor child must often feel wet/damp!
We also realised how true the fact might be when we discovered in the shopping aisle of the super market, nappies that were made for potty training, that had a "WET" feel!!!
Disposables have become so good at absorbing, that children are no longer able to feel wet, thus the discomfort and want to get out of them and into undies!

Yet I am sad to say that cloth nappies have not been as effective as I had thought or hoped!
And at 2 and 7months Tullula is only just about to get out of Nappies!!!!

Since she has been 2 I have been trying to get her to go on the loo!
I have sat her on many occasions, hoping the click would happen! I am embarrassed to say that I have left puddles of wee behind me in various places, including super markets!
I have carried towels and the potty where ever I have gone!
In vain...Tullula just was not ready!
So I stopped pushing, happy that at least she was willing to sit there once in a while and doing her big business on the loo!
No more dirty nappies was a start!

But these past two weekends, we have had major progress...Well this weekend especially!
Out of nappies all day, and she is even telling us when she needs to wee and we get to the potty on time!
After nap time nappies are dry, and I have big hopes that this is it!

No more nappies for us, at least during the day maybe?
These changes are very very exiting, a huge step in our lives development, but also sad; no not sad not to have to wash any nappies any more, but just that my little baby is growing up and no longer is a baby!

Almost Two.

Today Tullula is 23month's! Its amazing to think that she is getting so very close to being 2!
We are about to head into what so many people call the Terrible Two's! Well I will confess that I am not too sure I actually believe that there is such a thing, but hey we shall see what I have to say in a few months time, right?
One thing is for sure is that she HAS changed!
Its actually funny how changes happen with children, we truly feel/think that it happened during our last week end away....In just a few days.
She had become LITTLE MISS INDEPENDENT!
While we were camping she really wanted to do everything with me, wash the dishes, then carry the water bucket from the tap...innocent fun at first!
But then she wanted to prepare our coffee, pour the milk! And it got to the pint where she even wanted to pour the hot water! I had to say "NO" to that. I do let her do a lot, but I also have a limit!
Well, one could of thought it was the end of the world! Tullula screamed and kicked and threw herself on the ground and that went on for a while...There was not much I could do!!! Oh La La!!!!
Then another change that has happened is that she only want me; to feed her, to give her her milk, to dress her, well actually that she want to do alone...But what I mean is that Stephen is no good any more, she almost screams "NO" "Momy" when he is about to do something for her, to help her!
I remember my little brother going throw that when he was about 2, all he wanted was my mother, his mother!
So, we have entered another stage of Tullula's life, one where she is trying to do things for herself, yet not completely able and getting frustrated at it! One where her mind in now more able to interact with ours, yet there is not the language skills! That too can be very frustrating!
So we need to be extra more patient and be like little invisible helper's!
I like this new stage, there are a lot of things we are going to be able to do together!
And I think I will get myself some ear plugs, as she is loving being able to scream "MOMY" over and OVER again!

Mail In the Box!

I got a parcel from Singapore. My Brother and his girl friend were there for a while!
It made me realise how today we hardly get any mail. Most mail we get are bills, ads or mail thats not for us but the last tenants.
How exiting!!!!
But this time it was not just a post card, but a big envelope!
A scarf, a sarong, an elephant mail rack, all the colours that I love and all with love and a lot of thought. Just for me!
How lovely!!

Do you get much mail?

Packed Lunch!!!

Tullula has started another day care. On Fridays while we wait for the Wednesday to free up as I work on Wednesdays now!
I'm not too happy with not having her with me on my free day but I guess its what has to be done, so I'm trying to just take some extra time for me, and I guess I really need it right now as I don't seem to get anything done!

This new day care is very different that the other one, and we have to pack lunch!!!
I have NEVER packed lunch for my daughter before, ok I have when we have gone on outings and pic-nics, but never for her to go to day care!
I tell you its a very different feeling!
Somehow I felt like I was loosing her forever, that that was it she was all grown up! Im eager to go pick her up now!!!

Winter, where are you??

Well, it seems that winter nad been and is already gone!
Im still amazed at how fast it went, how little cold it got.
Now its time to put those winter cloths away, most that I did not get to wear, as really it was not cold enough..Sometimes I think I really should of left them in France with my mom, that way I would have cloths there if I was to go in winter for a visit!!!
For now, they will go back in the suitcases in the garage, and the summer ones will be out!!!
Very Exiting... I Love summer!

#3: 8h30; time for some food shopping, our fridge is bare...She can ride where ever makes her happy, cause the alternative is her re-shelving the shop, Im not in the mood for it!

#5: 10H30; we are back home, Tullula is napping and all I feel like doing is sitting in the sun sipping on hot drinks!

#6: 11h30; Just went outside to hang the laundry and saw this little flower!

Ayurveda

Yesterday I went and had a consultation at the "Medicine man", in Palmwoods.
As I entered the shop I felt like I had been lifted into some outer space, the smells in the were just divine; spices, incense and herbs. I wondered how I had never been here before and thought this really is a place for me. I was greeted by a beautiful woman in a bright purple scarf, and offered some herbal the as I sat waiting for my turn.

My Consultation was with 3 students and the Medicine Man, we all sat in a cosy little circle in the back room, sipping on more thé (that I ended up spilling on my skirt, clumsy I am) and them asking me a series of questions; "what to I have for breackfast", "what do I dink all day", "hot or cold", "how is my digestion" ect ect...I also did have to stick out my tonque for all to see, and it even got photographed for a longer look and less embarrasment for my part!!! I was not shy to pull it out, but Im happy to have been spared having to keep is out for all to sit and look for a while!!!
Then came some tricky questions, well they were for me; "WHAT DO I TREAT MYSELF TO?"...I was unable to answer...I don't have any treats?? Really can that be?? Surly I must have something?? Chocolate I was told! Well, no I don't have chocolate any more as it has been making me anxious...
I was stunned, and so were they!!!
I left after an hour and a few herbal remedies to help my digestive system as well as something for my moods and cycle...I left feeling great, confused too, yet with this feeling that I wanted to become part of that world, be like those people, spirted and following the Ayurvedic lifestyle!!!

Yet, there is a lot more to it than just that!
Once I was home, and all was quite and tranquille around me, I sat to read the Ayurevdeic cookbook I had bought, and here is was I found; I must Avoid: leftovers, canned foods, prepacked chips, cheese, tap water, any food or drink with added or artificial sugar, and the list goes on....But those were the things that stuck most with me. HOW AM I GOING TO DO IT???
I always eat leftovers, I hate to throw food!!! Some canned foods are cheaper, that's what I use!!! Chips, well we have Natchos once a week!!! Cheese, I'm FRENCH how can I do that??? And tap water, I really can not afford to buy water, I drink far too much of it!!! And here I was thinking I was doing the right thing by drinking lots of water...

So I wonder, how can I do it? Sure I would love to try, but at this stage if feels difficult and expensive!
And the reality  is that its not easy to change habits...We shall see how I go!!!

What do you think about it all??...... Have you had to change your diet?
